Santa Maria author tells her story of being gay and spiritual beliefs

Barbara Wilson is an enthusiastic music director at her Catholic Church on Eastern Michigan University's campus.  In addition to her religious teachings, both her parents reinforced the importance of honesty and integrity above all else.  When she reports a close friend  suspected of lesbianism, the girl is expelled and Barbara feels conflicted.

Years later,  Barbara falls in love with Sandra, a fellow teacher and mother of three.

Part love story, part spiritual reckoning, Through The Closet Door is an uplifting testament to the freedom that arrives when you know in your heart your love is not a sin.
